BEREAVEMENT SERVICES
Hospice Alliance bereavement services are available for 13 months following the death of a loved one. Counselors communicate regularly with family members, facilitate support groups and coordinate the social group gatherings. The bereavement department also holds semi-annual memorial services and plans the annual grief teleconference, in conjunction with Gateway Technical College.
The 15th Annual National Hospice Foundation of America Teleconference will be Living With Grief : Children and Adolescents. It is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in the BioCATT building on the Kenosha Gateway campus. Registration and a light lunch will be at noon. The teleconference runs from 12:30 - 4p.m. and will be followed by a local panel discussion. The program will focus on the experience of grieving children and adolescents and the way that all hospice professionals, educators and counselors, Parents, social workers, physicians, grief couselors, funeral directors and clergy can best support these populations as they cope with loss and grief.
A Grief Recovery Support Group will meet for six weeks at the Hospice Alliance offices. The 2008 meeting dates are:,
- every Thursday, April 17 - May 22, 2008, 6:00 -7:30 p.m., and
- every Wednesday, September 17 - October 22, 2008, 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
There is also a Social Support group that meets monthly for lunch and informal conversation. Contact our bereavement department for times and locations. 2008 Social Support Gatherings will be held on the following dates:

2008 Memorial Services will be held at Hospice Alliance on Thursday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. Each program is for those grieving the loss of a loved one, and features music, readings and reflections. There is also a scroll listing all Hospice Alliance patients for those in attendance to view.
